Harry here with our August sign-up bonus update. As the kids return to school and summer vacation comes to a close, people here in the US are settling back into their routines. For the food delivery drivers , that’s great news – people order in more when they’re pressed for time (we’ve got links below to sign up with Doordash and Postmates).
But for those who focus on delivering people, busy schedules mean more trips. If you’re thinking about driving or referring new drivers, now’s a great time. So let’s talk about those bonuses!
And in case you missed them, here’s our last few sign-up bonus updates:
Don’t forget: Our sign-up bonus page has a helpful list of links to sign-up bonuses for all the various driving and delivery platforms. Be sure to check back there if you’re not quite ready to sign up yet!
Uber Bonuses Rising
Uber has recently upped their sign-up bonuses in many cities, and my hometown of Los Angeles is currently offering a $700 bonus for new drivers after doing 75 rides within the first 30 days. The best way to find out the current Uber sign-up bonus in your area though is to send a quick note to email@example.com. They’ll be able to tell you the current bonus amount in your area and the requirements that must be met to earn it.
If you’re ready to jump in with Uber, click here to sign up with my referral code.
Retroactive Uber Sign-Up Bonuses
If you signed up for Uber in the past couple weeks but forgot to include a referral code, you may still be eligible for a bonus. Shoot me an email and I’ll send you my code and contact info, which you can forward to Uber to earn your bonus. In most cases, they’ll apply the code for you as long as you’re within 15 days of activation.
Lyft Bonuses Now A Secret (Kinda)
We always recommend new drivers start out with Lyft if it’s available in your area – the rates are higher (plus Lyft has in-app tips!), the pace is easier, and there’s a chance you can use your Lyft experience to earn a bigger bonus from Uber later on.
In the past, Lyft’s sign-on bonuses have topped $500 in busy metros hungry for drivers, such as New York and Las Vegas. Currently, Lyft seems to be hedging their bets a bit, stating that “there is no guarantee that all referred drivers or referring applicants in the same region will receive the same bonus amounts.”
You can always contact Lyft support to find out the current bonus in your area. Or you can also check this page which seems to be more geared towards passengers who refer drivers but most of the bonuses seem accurate. Once you sign up for Lyft, you’ll get an e-mail (and your referrer) with the specific amount/terms so make sure you double check that.
No matter what the bonus amount is for your city, you’ll always need to use a referral code in order to be eligible for it. Click here to start your Lyft driver application using my referral code, and you’ll be well on your way to on-demand income – and probably a nice bonus to boot.
Lyft Ambassador Program
If you’ve already signed up for Lyft, you can still earn bonuses through the Lyft Ambassador Program. As a Lyft ambassador, you’ll earn $10 for every new passenger you refer to Lyft, and up to $750 for referring drivers. This can be a great way to earn extra cash without putting extra miles on your car. You also have the power to create custom, easy-to-remember codes for your referrals to use when they sign up. During certain special events, Lyft will even offer hourly rates for ambassadors to attend and recruit Lyft users.
Even if you don’t plan on recruiting hundreds of people, this is a quick and easy way to earn some extra cash with the Lyft platform. You never know when you’ll run into someone who needs a referral code!
Click here to sign up for the ambassador program today.
Diversify With DoorDash
One of the most popular delivery options is DoorDash. DoorDash offers sign-up bonuses up to $250 in select cities, and the tips you’ll earn on the job aren’t half-bad, either. To find out the current bonus in your area, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or click here to sign up for DoorDash using our affiliate link.
DoorDash + DailyPay Partnership
If you like getting paid instantly for the work you do (and who doesn’t?), DailyPay offers a great program which helps you cash out every time you hit the road. Previously, the service was only available to Uber drivers – but the company has expanded to accept DoorDash, Postmates, Instacart and Fasten earnings as well. This is a cool integration because now you can work for multiple services in one day and still get a single payment at the end of the day.
Postmates Bonuses Up To $200
Another major player in the delivery game is Postmates. This month, Postmates’ sign-on bonuses remain high – up to $200 in some cities. This is another great way to dip a toe into the delivery waters. If you’ve already delivered with DoorDash, Postmates will be a piece of cake. Go ahead and grab those bonuses by using this link to sign up for Postmates.
Uber and Lyft Sign-Up Bonus FAQs
Q: I found a new driver code on the internet that promised a bonus of ($500, $1,000, etc). Should I use that one instead?
A: The bonus you’ll receive will be the exact same no matter whose code you use (make sure you use someone’s code though, otherwise no bonus). Rather, it all depends on where you live and what the current offer is in your city. Bonuses can change from month to month, and even from day to day. The best way to find out what bonus you’ll receive is to e-mail email@example.com and ask or check with the company directly. The high-demand markets like New York or San Francisco often do have lucrative bonuses, although in most other areas the amount will be lower.
Q: What do I need to do to earn the sign-up bonus after my application is approved?
A: Lyft and Uber will typically require that you complete a certain number of rides within 30 days of signing up to earn a bonus. The number can be anywhere from 0 to 100 or more depending on your city. When you sign up with Lyft, your confirmation e-mail should have this info but for Uber, you need to e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org in order to get the terms.
Q: I signed up a few days ago but I forgot to use your referral code. Can I still earn a bonus?
A: With Lyft no. But with Uber, you can. If you signed up in the past couple weeks you may still be eligible for a bonus. Shoot me an email and I’ll send you my code and contact info, which you can forward to Uber to earn your bonus. In most cases, they’ll apply the code for you as long as you’re within 15 days of activation.
Readers, what do you think of these bonus updates? Have any of you started driving for new services to take advantage of bonuses?
