Update 1/14/2015: As of today, Uber is giving experienced rideshare drivers like yourself up to $500 or $1,000 (depending on your city) after you sign up to drive with Uber and complete your first trip. To qualify, you must prove your have driven on another ridesharing platform BEFORE 1/8/15.
Whenever people ask me which TNC I prefer driving for, I like to say that I drive Lyft for fun but I drive Uber for the money. Since I actually started my rideshare journey as a Lyft driver, I’ve always felt a certain amount of loyalty towards them. When I first started, the money was good, the rides were plentiful and the passengers were awesome. But then Uber came banging on the door with their $500 new driver promotion and it was pretty hard to pass that offer up.

So I sold out 🙂 I did one Uber trip, made $500 and haven’t looked back since. I now drive primarily for both TNC’s but I know that there are still a lot of you who don’t. Lyft has done a great job of building a so called ‘community’ and making their drivers feel like they are a core part of the company. This was smart business on their part but I’m still skeptical.
