With all the negative stories about ridesharing lately, it made me start to think about why I still do this. What are the negative stories about? Questions about insurance (or lack thereof), low fares, nasty riders, risk of vomit, companies that don’t care, etc. It isn’t hard to find negatives that can demotivate a driver from wanting to go out and drive. And while most of those stories are just plain false, they still have the same effect as if they were true. So with all that being said, I wanted to do a little bit of reflecting today on why I still drive.

1. I love meeting new people
Let’s face it… if you don’t like meeting and talking to new people, this job gets really old really fast. On days when I feel like just staying home and watching TV, I tell myself to go out and do a few rides and if I still don’t feel like it, then come home. Well, I have never come home after just a few rides. Riders are friendly and have very interesting things to say. Just today, I put on Spotify and had Pentatonix on. The passenger asked if it was Pentatonix and then asked me if I knew about Straight No Chaser. We ended up having a great conversation about choirs and acapella music and groups. It was a lot of fun.
