Despite Boston being one of rideshare’s top markets, insurance companies have been fairly slow to adapt to all the new demand. Liberty Mutual is an option for drivers and USAA recently started offering rideshare “gap coverage.” MAPFRE and Allstate also offer drivers coverage.

Liberty Mutual

Liberty Mutual offers very competitive rates with very flexible billing options, Liberty Mutual is a great ride share friendly option. They will not cancel your policy if you are participating in a ride share program.  Also, Liberty Mutual does not count rideshare miles for premium rating purposes, assuring very competitive rates.

USAA

USAA is a well known financial services company that exclusively serves the military community and their families since 1922.  As part of their auto insurance products, USAA now offers a rideshare endorsement that covers Period 1 (app on, but no passenger) and you won’t be dropped for letting them know you are a rideshare driver.

MAPFRE

Massachusetts’ largest insurer, MAPFRE has a network of over 5,000 independent agents. MAPFRE’s rideshare insurance comes in the form of gap coverage, extending your personal coverage to include the period one gap and preventing you from being dropped for being a rideshare driver. The coverage does not extend to periods two or three, where you’ll be dependent on Uber or Lyft for insurance coverage.
