Fair, a rental car program for Uber drivers, just launched their first week free program for California drivers! This means that if you’re a California driver, you can now get your first week free (a $185 savings) and be able to access a pre-owned rideshare-ready car through Fair. In addition, Fair has doubled their inventory throughout California, increasing your chances of getting a car today.

How Does the Fair First Week Free Program Work?
The Fair first week free initiative will provide drivers with credits in their account that can be applied to cover their first weekly car payment, plus tax. The “all-in weekly fee” bundles everything they need to drive, including unlimited mileage, insurance, a limited warranty, roadside assistance, and routine maintenance that is fully reimbursed (excluding taxes).
To get started in the program, drivers will make a refundable $185 security deposit upfront—with no down payment or startup fee—and are free to turn the vehicle in whenever they want. If you want to read a first hand account of renting from Fair, check out Jay’s experience below:
Fair is aiming to help anyone who wants to drive for Uber, but we’ve identified three main types of customers where it makes the most sense:
Should You Drive with Fair? Here’s When it Makes Sense
1 – You’re considering driving for Uber but you want to test it out first to see how you like it.
Fair is the absolute cheapest way to see if you really want to drive for a living without using your own car. With Fair, you also get roadside assistance, which adds peace of mind. You get insurance (included in California, extra cost elsewhere but still a good deal).
However, the main thing is you can rent a car WEEKLY — no long term contracts or anything like that. Just give them 5 days notice that you want to return the car, and you’re out. No further payments.
2 – You want to start your own business as a driver but don’t want to spend a lot of money upfront.
There are very few proven business models that don’t require a specialized skill or a decent amount of cash for start-up costs. No loans needed. No advanced education needed. No great credit score needed. That’s pretty unique.
3 – You’re an experienced rideshare driver and you’re fed up driving your own car and wearing it down.
Drive the Fair car as hard as you need to, and have total peace of mind about maintenance and accidents, too. Look, here’s what no one really wants to talk about — when you drive 40+ hours per week, every week, the chance you get into a fender bender goes up. Even if you’re a great driver, other drivers on the road are not!
When you drive your own car and it gets damaged or even just dinged up, not only do you have to pay for it or have your insurance premiums go up, you could be out of job because your car is out of commission!
Fair fixes that issue.
It’s worth trying, especially because of the generous Uber Rental Rewards Program that offers you lots of driving bonuses along the way when you drive with Fair. Again, it’s cheap and easy to start and you get a great head start when you use our Fair promo code. If you decide it’s not your thing, no worries, just tell them with 5 days notice and return the car.
Fair’s Switch Program
If you’ve driven with Lyft Express Drive, you may notice something different about Fair: for one, it’s a whole lot cheaper.
That’s why Fair is making it easy for Lyft Express Drivers to make the switch to Fair – and get rewarded with a $500 credit (after you drive 70 trips with Uber in your first two weeks). As a full-time driver, this is an easy number of rides to hit in two weeks!
Best of all, you can earn more with those 70 rides with Uber than you do with Lyft Express Drive.
When you’re ready to make the switch from Lyft Express Drive to Fair, it’s as simple as emailing Fair ([email protected]) and letting them know you’re interested!
The Fair Rental Car Program for Full-time Drivers
Fair isn’t for everyone. For instance, we don’t really recommend Fair for drivers who only want to drive a few hours a week with their own car.
But if you find yourself in one of the three categories above, it’s definitely worth looking at. And because you can use Fair on a week by week basis, it’s almost a no-brainer to at least try it out.
One sticking point though has been the limited number of vehicles due to the high demand for the program. Fair is attempting to fix that by doubling the number of vehicles they have on hand.
Fair offers a vehicle selection of about 40 different models, including popular options like the Hyundai Sonata, Nissan Altima, and Toyota Corolla.
Let us know if you notice a lot more vehicle options in your area!
Earn 3x driving kids to schoolTriple your ridesharing pay. Zūm drivers average $32/hour and many make $750+ a week. Work when you want. Get repeat rides and drive only on weekday mornings and afternoons. Apply to drive here.
