The Fair App Is Opening New Locations

Fair, Uber’s rental car program, recently opened up a very nice in-person service center in Glendale, CA. We know how important customer service is to drivers, so we were curious about what the new in-person service center would look like and how it would help drivers. We had RSG contributor Chonce Maddox Rhea take a look at and share her thoughts on the new Fair app locations.

The Uber Rental Car Program (Fair) Is Creating Really Nice In-Person Service Centers

We’ve been following the Fair Uber rental program closely over the past few months and it’s been cool to see how the process has evolved. When the program first launched, and we sent Jay to test it out, he had a great experience but ran into a few issues picking up his car and getting it approved. About a month later though, Fair launched a new waitlist feature so that you didn’t have to keep checking the app for new cars.

Now, renting a car with Fair just got easier thanks to the new locations they’re launching. Fair recently opened a new location known as their Americana location (Glendale, CA) and if the pictures do it justice, it looks like it’s going to be a major hub and a huge benefit to drivers who want to find the right vehicle quickly and get hands-on assistance.

We’re excited to see Fair introducing these in-person service centers, as it’s a good sign Fair is investing taking customer service seriously. We all know good customer service isn’t a given in the rideshare industry, so kudos to Fair for creating this in-person center for drivers in Glendale, CA.

Getting good customer support can be difficult and if you’ve ever dealt with Uber’s support team you know that the representatives at their Hubs tend to be pretty knowledgeable and helpful. We always recommend drivers go straight there for any of the more complex issues.

Fair’s Americana Location

Fair, a rental car program for Uber drivers, launched their first week free program for California drivers. This means, you can save on the $214 rental fee for the first week on your pre-owned rideshare vehicle rental through Fair.

If you don’t have a car but still want to do ridesharing driving, this company has helped make it a possibility for you. More Fair car rental locations like the one in Glendale, CA should be opening up soon in the coming months as well.

What to Expect From Fair Car Rental Locations

The Americana at Brand is a popular retail, restaurant, and entertainment hub that also boasts a few residential options in the heart of Glendale, California. While you can’t miss this large property, Fair’s new service station is located below the Grand Lobby.

The location will have a check in area along with a few lots for self-parking to drop you vehicle off. The space is modernly designed and well lit with clear directions to help you navigate where you need to go.

While Fair prides itself on offering a streamlined process for drivers to choose and reserve their vehicle rental straight from the app, it’s nice to know that real people will be at this location to answer questions, assist with the check-in process, and provide additional support for drivers.

Fair already offers a ton of benefits for the $214 weekly fee including insurance, roadside assistance, routine car maintenance and unlimited mileage. These service locations add icing to the cake allowing you to get a personalized experience along with any additional assistance that the app may not offer.

Support For Drivers

Since these Fair car rental locations are relatively new, we’re not quite sure what to expect yet but we’d hope that they would offer more all-around support for drivers.

I’m hoping to see more flexible hours for pick-ups and drop offs to accommodate drivers’ different preferences, real-time inventory updates, and a more organized and efficient check-in and drop off process for everyone.

How Fair Actually Works

Fair offers an alternative to traditional car ownership by allowing you to rent a quality vehicle on flexible terms. You can rent a vehicle for personal use, but you’re probably more interested in Fair’s partnership with Uber.

You can learn more about how the Fair app works and the partnership with Uber, and take a look at our additional Fair articles below:

Fair partners with dealers in the markets listed below. To get a Fair car, you must live in a state where they are currently operating.

For the most part, rideshare drivers have been able to go to a partner location or dealership to pick up their Fair car rental. These new service locations that Fair is launching should change that.

What If I Want to Drive For Lyft?

Lyft has its own car rental program for drivers called Lyft Express Drive. It’s similar to Fair where you pay a weekly fee to rent a vehicle and get unlimited mileage for rideshare driving.

You can learn more about the Lyft Express Drive program here, and you can get started with Lyft Express Drive here.

Fair is offering an incentive to drivers who switch over from Lyft Express Drive. You can receive $500 in Fair credits but you must:

  • Have been a Lyft Express Drive customer in good standing within the last 30 days
  • Provide proof of your Lyft Express Drive payment stub within the last 30 days
  • Be a new customer to the Fair weekly Uber program
  • Complete 70 trips with Uber within 2 weeks of obtaining your Fair rental.

If you’ve never tried Fair before and drive in an area that is busy in terms of getting Uber trips, this incentive seems like it could be a strategic way to score a few weeks without paying the car rental fee out of pocket.

While Fair may not be the best option for everyone (ie. part-time drivers who only work a few hours per week), these new Fair car rental locations can really smooth out the process overall and help drivers get on the road quicker with less hassle.

That way, you can get more trips completed to earn back your weekly fee, qualify for more bonuses via Uber Pro, and avoid some of the common risks and setbacks of driving for Uber with a car you own.
