New York City is one of the largest transportation markets in the world but it’s also unique since it’s the only UberX market that requires drivers to get TLC licensing and commercial insurance instead of regular rideshare or personal insurance.  So if you’re driving for Uber, Lyft, Gett, Via or Juno you’ll want to look into commercial insurance from a trusted New York commercial insurance broker.

If you’re outside of NYC, commercial insurance is not required but you will still want to get rideshare insurance. Currently, there is only one company that provides rideshare insurance in New York State and that is Allstate.

Recommended Rideshare Insurance Companies in New York:

Allstate’s new rideshare coverage is unique.  While it provides coverage during period 1, Allstate’s rideshare coverage also helps fill the gap that arises when a customer’s personal auto policy liability coverage limits are greater than what’s provided by Uber and Lyft during period 1, 2 and 3. The coverage also protects drivers against high deductibles that ridesharing companies have for their coverage.
