Walmart Plus Driver Jobs: New Way to Get Flexible Pay

Walmart Plus is launching to compete with Amazon Prime. That’s good news for people looking for driving gig jobs with flexible hours.

Customers will pay $98 for an annual membership to get Walmart groceries and store items delivered the same day.

How Walmart Plus Driver Jobs Could Help Increase Driver Earnings

Currently, Walmart offers home delivery from about 2,700 stores using companies like Postmates , DoorDash, Roadie and Point Pickup.

But customers haven’t been promised same-day or even two-day delivery like with Amazon Prime.

Walmart Plus is out to change that beginning September 15, 2020. Walmart believes this will boost demand for deliveries. Thus, more demand for delivery drivers.

To get ahead of the crowd, we highly recommend you sign-up for Postmates, Instacart, and Doordash now. We’ve seen from other driver job apps that when competition is high for your services, they’ll pay you better.

But after there are too many drivers, they don’t feel the need to pay drivers as much.

Walmart Plus is set to grow its offerings over time but it’s launching with:

  • Unlimited free delivery: same prices as in the store, as fast as same-day on more than 160,000 items. This includes groceries.

Customers like myself who have Walmart’s “Delivery Unlimited” for groceries are automatically becoming Walmart Plus members.

Walmart grocery delivery has made me more likely to order from Walmart whereas before I didn’t really consider Walmart as an option. I anticipate other customers switching some of their Amazon purchases to Walmart, and that means more gig drivers delivering those packages.

  • Scan & Go: a faster way to shop in-store with the Walmart app.
  • Fuel discounts: Save up to 5 cents a gallon at nearly 2,000 Walmart, Murphy USA, and Murphy Express fuel stations. This might make it appealing for gig drivers to become a Walmart Plus member themselves to snag this continuous savings.

The rise of Walmart Plus could mean more Postmates and Doordash delivery drivers needed as Walmart gains more online shopping customers. In my market, Walmart uses Postmates. I subscribe to Walmart grocery delivery.

Walmart Plus will put pressure on Costco and Target, which pay Instacart and Shipt drivers

Costco has a partnership with Instacart for groceries, and also for prescriptions in some states. Costco is a paid membership club.

Target delivers with Shipt.

This is why we encourage you to sign-up for multiple services. As a contract worker, use the flexibility to your advantage!

Instead of being locked into, say, Walmart, you can cherry-pick the highest-paying jobs that day from Walmart, Costco, Target, Publix, Aldi, Safeway, Ralphs, and so on.

More competition for your driving time should lead to higher driver pay. Now, we’ve seen this play out with Uber and Lyft. Getting in early before the market is flooded with drivers is to your advantage.

Another way to get paid more is to use our strategies to make more money delivering.

While rookie drivers will take just about any gig driving job that flashes on their app, we give you a smart plan of action when you subscribe to our free delivery jobs email list.

The delivery wars are on! Jump in while you can and make that money!

Which companies do you currently deliver for?
