Jokr Delivery Review – Everything You Need To Know

JOKR, the 15-minute delivery service that has been rapidly growing in New York City and across Latin America, is now serving Boston!

And JOKR is hiring delivery couriers! This is NOT gig work, you will be hired to be on the JOKR team!

  • It’s an actual part-time or full-time job with health, dental, vision, and PTO benefits!
  • You do NOT wear down your car OR pay for gas! JOKR issues you an e-bike. You zip around town to make nearby deliveries
  • Career growth to be promoted to management positions is encouraged if you’re interested!

This isn’t a job where they only see you as a delivery person. They look to promote from within. So if you think you’d like to one day be in a leadership position, you can climb the ladder at JOKR.

Bloomberg reports that JOKR just raised another round of funding, valuing the company at over $1 billion dollars. So even though you may not have heard of JOKR yet, big-time investors really believe in the company and its ideals.

What is JOKR?

Both drivers and customers have many options to choose from when it comes to delivery. Customers want their food and products fast. As rideshare and food delivery drivers, we want to take on more profitable trips that can be completed in less time.

JOKR is a short-trip delivery service that aims to make this happen. With inflated fuel prices and the constant cost of ongoing vehicle maintenance, a lot of drivers aren’t always so fond of long-distance trips. Let’s see how JOKR might be able to help you boost your income in the near future.

If you’re interested in work that gets you out earning quickly, and pays you like an employee, not an independent contractor, sign up with JOKR today and keep reading below to learn more about how it all works.

JOKR puts a new twist on grocery delivery, as they promise delivery within 15 minutes of placing the order. The secret is the mini storefronts they have set up on side streets in specific areas. JOKR was founded by German entrepreneur Ralf Wenzel who also founded FoodPanda.

JOKR currently doesn’t have order minimums and even allows some items from a deli or convenience store to also be delivered. In addition to that, some items that you’d find at a pharmacy can be delivered as well.

The food delivery service uses data to get an idea of what customers will want and when they will want it delivered. That’s another way they are unique and able to predict such a quick delivery.

The data JOKR is able to capture can go even deeper and predict which week or even morning or evening a customer would order an item. This helps them with inventory and when they might need to rotate it to fulfill upcoming orders.

If that sounds too high-tech to be true, it’s not! Take a listen to our podcast about how lightning-fast delivery is revolutionizing the delivery industry.

JOKR has been considered sort of a ghost kitchen as the groceries and other items are sold straight from different wholesalers, manufacturers, and brands right on the app. This route cuts out wholesalers or supermarkets as the middleman and obtains the items directly from the source.

JOKR Funding

JOKR isn’t the only company to give this 15 minutes or less model a try. They follow companies like Gorillas and Getir who are trying to make this work. The RealDeal notes that JOKR has funding from HV Capital, Tiger Global, and SoftBank.

Wenzel’s end goal is to compete with Amazon and Instacart to be a household name in the industry. He wants the JOKR name to stand out from the others and, with the funding in place and the team around them, this just might become a reality someday.

As recently as December 2021, JOKR announced it closed a Series B round of $260 million – that’s a big deal! With this investment, JOKR plans on expanding its presence in the US – like its recent announcement that it’s now available in Boston!

JOKR Cities

JOKR has not rolled out in many places just yet after only getting started in April 2021. It’s spread out pretty well though and is going strong in nine cities across Latin American countries like Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and also in European countries Austria and Poland. New York City was the first US city JOKR launched in, and now JOKR is available in Boston.

With some people still not comfortable shopping in stores, this offers a great quick option for groceries to be delivered straight to their doorstep. In New York City alone, JOKR has 10 hubs to help fulfill orders and get them out as quickly as possible.

The delivery radius for some of these locations is about a mile. Some of the current delivery zones in New York include most of Manhattan below 35th Street and also Long Island City, Queens, and Williamsburg.

JOKR Delivery Launches in Boston

Recently, JOKR announced it had leveraged the lessons it learned in New York City to launch a Boston expansion. It only took six months for JOKR to go from NYC to Boston, and if you’re a Boston delivery driver looking for something new, make sure to sign up and get in on the ground floor of JOKR delivery in Boston here!

If you’re ready to sign up with JOKR and live in Boston, you can do so here.

JOKR vs Instacart

With how much success it’s had, any food delivery startup is going to be compared to Instacart. Instacart is obviously huge, but one difference is the emphasis that JOKR has put on its international footprint right from the start.

Instacart deliveries can be done on a bike, as well as with a vehicle. JOKR  deliveries are basically only done on a bike. And you can expect that you won’t need to travel as far!

JOKR vs DoorDash

Doordash is another giant in the food delivery industry. DoorDash involves delivering mostly ready-to-eat hot food from restaurants.

Much like Instacart, DoorDash prioritizes delivery speed, but not to the extent that JOKR does. In addition, DoorDash is available nationwide throughout the US, whereas JOKR is not yet available everywhere.

JOKR vs Gorillas

JOKR and Gorillas both try and promise delivery within 30 minutes of ordering. Both also have a footprint in New England.

One difference? Gorillas says deliveries can arrive in 10 minutes with them, instead of the 15 minutes JOKR promises. For some people, that 5 minutes is a big difference.

Is It Worth It to Deliver for JOKR?

Yes. With flexible schedules, the option for part-time or full-time work, health benefits, actual career opportunities, and guaranteed tips, JOKR is a growing company worth your time.

JOKR provides you with all you need to get started, so there’s really no reason not to give it a try.
