Saucey Review: Getting Alcohol Delivered to Your Door

Do you ever open your liquor cabinet to make a margarita and realize you’re out of tequila? Or have a hankering for a nice cold beer but your fridge is beer-less? Today, RSG Contributor Chonce Maddox-Rhea shares her review of the Saucey app and website that provides alcohol delivery right to your door.

Quick summary:

It seems like we’re at this interesting stage in society where almost everything can be delivered. When I was growing up, if we wanted something delivered to our home the only option was pizza. Now, household essentials, groceries, fast food and alcohol can be delivered too.

If you’re looking to enjoy some wine or alcohol in your own home, Saucey is an app and website that can deliver it straight to your doorstep in as little as 30 minutes.

What is Saucey?

Saucey is an alcohol delivery service that can bring liquor straight to your door. The app is available for both Android and Apple devices. Saucey is the DoorDash of alcohol delivery apps and one of the most popular options available to anyone looking to drink responsibly at home.

Need a bottle of wine to go with dinner? Or some spirits to celebrate a special occasion with your loved ones? Saucey is a convenient app that will help you get what you need quickly and at an affordable price.

Saucey also sells gifts, snacks, mixers and tobacco—everything you need, whether you’re looking to send a bottle to a friend or mix your own drinks at home.

How Saucey Works

The days of needing a designated driver or having to run out to the store are over. You can have the drinks brought straight to you by downloading the Saucey app.

Search by category or browse the top picks for you

How it works is you’ll sign up and enter your address. Then you can shop among their selection of craft beer, wine, spirits and mixers. Most orders can be delivered within an hour, but some as fast as 30 minutes!

If your favorite selections are out of stock when you try to order, they offer plenty of alternatives to choose from so you can find an option that works for you. Saucey would be great for in-house bars and restaurant staff too who may need last-minute drinks or mixers.

Tobacco products can also be delivered through the app.

Upon delivery, you will need to have your ID ready. Saucey does verify to make sure customers are at least 21 years old.

Where Does Saucey Deliver?

Saucey services most major U.S. cities like Chicago, San Jose, Dallas, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Orlando and more. There’s even 2-day shipping available in New York and California.

To find out if your area is covered, you can type in your address on the Saucey website.

How Much Does It Cost?

Accepted payments include debit, credit, and Apple card. Cash cannot be accepted as a form of payment, but may be used as a method to tip your delivery driver.

Price varies and depends on your spirit of choice as well as the size of the bottle. Popular sizes available are 750 ml and 1.75 L. Bottles can even go as low as 200 ml.

Johnnie Walker sells a 200 ml bottle of scotch starting at $29.99 and 750 ml starting at $65.99. There are no delivery fees or order minimums with Saucey and tipping is encouraged.

Most prices compare to what you might find in a liquor store so you can get the flavor you want at the price point you’d expect. Jack Daniels has both the Old. No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey and the Green Label available starting at $54.99 and $39.99 respectively.

Saucey keeps customers engaged with promotional offers that are sent directly to subscribers’ inbox. They also have promotions on their social media channels. When your friends place their first order with your code you receive $10 in Saucey credit.

Saucey also has a Loyalty Program. Customers are considered to be Gold, Platinum, or Black members, depending on how many points they accrue through using the Saucey app.

While drivers can earn around $7 per delivery, Saucey doesn’t tack on a delivery fee for your order. So, I assume the delivery fee is already worked into the price of the order.

Not only do customers have to be 21, but drivers have to be at least 21 and have no DUI’s in the past 5 years to handle the liquor.

Saucey Promo Code

There are plenty of promo codes thorough Retail Me Not like this one, SAUCEYME10, that offer new customers $10 off their first order. Sign up for Saucey here.

Apps like Saucey

Saucey is like the DoorDash of alcohol delivery and stands out from some of the competition. There are plenty competing for that top spot though, including Drizly and Minibar.

Saucey vs Drizly

Drizly and Saucey are similar in a few ways. However, Drizly uses drivers directly from the retail store you are ordering from. If people want to deliver with Drizly, they have to be an employee of that business.

Also, now Drizly is owned by Uber! Drizly is now available in many more cities, and for many more drivers.

Saucey vs Minibar

I like how detailed Minibar is about where they deliver. Minibar delivers to over 50 different markets. Saucey does service a lot of areas and is continuing to expand to more markets, but it doesn’t make it as clear through their website.

Saucey Alternatives

You can also get alcohol delivered with Postmates, Drinks, goPuff and more. Note: All three charge a return fee if you don’t have your ID on you to prove you’re at least 21 years old.

Postmates is different because they don’t only focus on liquor like Saucey does. They are more well known for selling goods or groceries.

goPuff also delivers other items besides spirits and beers. They offer cold and flu medicine, snacks, and safety supplies. Saucey does have a better selection of liquor than goPuff, but goPuff offers alcohol bundles that include multiple bottles for a reasonable price.

Summary

Saucey gives you the freedom to order liquor for delivery instead of having to go into the liquor store yourself. Convenience is everything in today’s world, and Saucey is a delivery service that won’t break the bank. You don’t have to risk going out late on a weekend and can drink responsibly from the comfort of your own home.

The company has on-demand 30-minute delivery for customers with great rates. I also like how Saucey makes it easy to send gifts to friends which is a nice gesture.
